Description

(STR950) Our #9 Synthetic Straight Corks are extremely dense, man made corks. They are light brown to beige in color with a natural looking design. These synthetic corks work really well with our Floor Model and Bench Model Corkers. These corks provide a perfect seal every time and many commercial wineries are even starting to use these types of corks because they are that dependable! We do not recommend using these corks with hand-held corkers as the corks may be damaged due to their extreme density. Our #9 Synthetic Straight Corks come in a package of 25 and are 1 3/4 inches long.

FAQ
Q Don (Hilo, HI)
Is it necessary to soften and or sterilize the synthetic corks? And what are they made from?
A CustomerService@ECKraus.com
These wine bottle corks do not need to be softened. However, they do need to sanitized in a sulfite solution prior to bottling. They are made from a food-grade thermoplastic rubber.

Q Bill (Eagle River, AK)
If I use synthetic corks, do the bottles still need to be stored on their sides? If so, how long until they can be stored standing up?
A CustomerService@ECKraus.com
With these corks, wine bottles may be stored upright or on their sides. Since they are not a natural cork material, you do not have to keep them moist to prevent them from drying up.

"These work" Review by redbar (Posted on 12/16/15)

I have used this style of synthetic cork ever since the Cabernet / Merlot natural corks, that were in the bottle for two years, disintegrated when I tried to remove them. I was able to remove the pieces of cork by filtering the wine through a sieve into the carafe but the experience was eye opening.

CORKS ARE GREAT

"Great product!" Review by Andrea (Posted on 10/5/15)

This is my first time corking bottles, since I usually try to get ones with screw-on caps. I thought I'd try these synthetic corks as I don't have a wine rack to lay my bottles in. As far as corking, they work great! They went in so easy with the floor corker, and seem to have a great seal. They may be a little tough to get out, but so far they are working great1

I have used these corks on 2 batches. I love them. They go in firm so i know the bottled is seal and will not leak. i will never go back to real corks again.

"You need a bench corker" Review by Dan (Posted on 7/8/13)

I like the seal with this type of cork. It is stiffer than the others and you need a sturdy machine to insert them. I keep them in a sterile bath while I am filling bottles for lubrication.

This is the third year I've used synthetic corks. I've always been old school and I never saw myself using them. Now, I'd never go back to cork. 100% seal, no leaking, ever.

"Not as good as old style" Review by 3steps (Posted on 4/4/13)

These corks are stiffer than the previous ones making them a little harder to handle mostly when removing from the wine bottle.

I never have one leak. must have a floor corker for them

" A great cork but you need to moisten them first." Review by Daniel (Posted on 2/6/13)

I have used these corks with good results. They are a bit of a struggle to insert without a bit of moisture on them. I just put them in a bowl of water and give them a little shake before inserting and it makes them goof proof. They don't come apart when removed and they keep a good seal in the bottle.

this cork is extremely difficult to insert into a bottle using a hand corker. I did get 1 or 2 out of 10 in properly, the rest had to be pounded in with a rubber mallet. That being said, the cork is an exceptional cork and I will probably buy a floor or bench model corker.
