I just received my new 6-gallon plastic carboy and I realized that I forgot to purchase hose for the faucet. What size do I need?
The facucet on the 6-gallon plastic carboy takes a 3/8" hose.
Customer Reviews"Good value" Review by Fergus (Posted on 10/10/14)
These carboys are a good value, with this note: The leaky faucet is due to the roughness of the cut in the carboy. Often there is a raised edge around the rim That's why the leak occurs. Before installing the faucet, check each carboy by running your fingers around the edge of the port to make certain there's no rough cut edge. If the edge is not smooth, make it smooth, inside and out, with fine sandpaper. Easy fix."Not such a good idea" Review by Jere (Posted on 2/27/14)
I thought this may be a good idea but I'm on the verge of changing mind now. I like using the plastic carboys, which is why I have given more stars. As with most items purchased from EC Krause you better know what your doing because instructions don't exist or are poorly written. In the case of this carboy instructions say hand tight only on the faucet, don't over tighten. Problem is they leak."fragile" Review by marble (Posted on 2/19/14)
The second time I used this carboy I was doing a secondary fermentation. After several days I noticed there was a leak around the faucet. When I tried to hand tighten the faucet, the faucet broke and I lost about half of my wine."Good deal" Review by Fergus (Posted on 7/4/13)
I like these carboys for their light weight and faucet, provided they hold up, and there's no reason to think they won't."Great Value" Review by Nick (Posted on 4/15/13)
These are much less expensive than Better Bottles. I also prefer the barbed faucet over those that you can get with the Better Bottles. You get a much better flow rate and it is much easier to bottle from them. The only thing I would caution is to always pick up these bottles from the neck and bottom. Since they aren't ribbed, like the Better Bottles, they don't have much side wall strength. Other than that, they are a great value. Will buy more as I need them in the future.
