Winemaking Equipment
Having the
right winemaking equipment is key to successful
winemaking. You will need winemaking equipment for
processing the fruit such as a crusher, and equipment for
pressing the crushed fruit. When selecting these pieces of
winemaking equipment your biggest decision is size. You
need to consider what equipment you need for the
fermentation like the fermentation vessel. You will also
need equipment for creating a water trap such as an
air-lock. Another piece of winemaking equipment that will
be helpful is the hydrometer. This piece of winemaking
equipment is used for tracking the fermentation's
progress. Equipment such as the hydrometer is also used
for determining alcohol content. You will also need
winemaking equipment for transferring the wine from one
piece of equipment to the next. One handy piece of
winemaking equipment for this is a rack tube. Equipment
such as the racking tube will help you siphon more wine
and less sediment. Other winemaking equipment
considerations would be things like stirring paddles,
equipment for bottle washing and equipment for bottling
the wine.
